For those outside the path of totality, a partial solar eclipse will still offer a captivating celestial display. The partial eclipse will be visible in most parts of the world, and a crescent-shaped Sun will be visible during the peak of the event.
According to NASA, here are the timings for some US cities along the path of totality:
- Partial eclipse begins at 12:23 pm EDT
- Total eclipse begins at 12:39 pm EDT
- Total eclipse ends at 1:41 pm EDT
- Partial eclipse ends at 2:53 pm EDT
The total phase of the eclipse will begin at 12:39 pm EDT, a bit more than 620 miles (998 km) south of the Republic of Kiribati in the Pacific. The eclipse will then traverse across the United States and exit into Canada, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience for millions of people.
